The Technical University of Madrid (UPM) was founded en 1971 integrating the Architectural and the Engineering Schools in existence in Madrid at that time. Nowadays, many of the schools are more than a century old. Al present, it comprises 20 schools and college in which 42 Higher Education Degrees can be studied, 39 of which belong to the technological area: Aeronautical, Agronomical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Forestry, Industrial, Mechanical, Mining, Nuclear, Naval, Geodesy and Cartography Engineering, a Center for Physical Education and Sport, and about two hundred to third cycle programs, doctor and postgraduate studies. In its lecture rooms study 38000 undergraduate students and about 6000 doctorate and postgraduate students. The Technical University of Madrid is well known for his leadership in different technological researching fields and for its wide and open relations with the business and productive world.
