In his fifth year of leadership and tireless commitment, Paul Stacey, Executive Director of Open Education Global (OEG), has announced his intention to transition to a new phase of his career in the global open education movement.
During his time as Executive Director, Paul led OEG into an incredibly successful period. Paul was the driving force behind a number of milestone initiatives, providing the connective tissue for a maturing open education movement worldwide.
Some of his many accomplishments include:
- Acting as an advocate and expert in the process to develop and sign the UNESCO Recommendation on OER.
- Leading the design, development, and community co-creation of the 2021-2030 OEG Strategic Plan: Open for Public Good.
- Launching OEG Connect, an online community space for open educators everywhere
- Leading the OEGlobal team in planning and hosting annual events that bring the global open education community together, including Open Education Week, Open Education Awards for Excellence, including the recent 10 year anniversary celebration, and the OEGlobal Conference.
- Cementing the central role of OEG in the global open education network through a widely applauded name change and rebrand.
Among these many accomplishments, Paul is a consistently caring and thoughtful leader, cultivating strong relationships with the Board, partners, and members of OEGlobal. He supports his team with enthusiasm, maintaining a careful awareness of the distinct needs of a global, open workforce and advocating for a caring and inclusive organizational culture at every opportunity.
Paul’s stewardship and vision will be greatly missed by the staff, Board, partners, and members of Open Education Global. We wish him all the best in his transition and know that while he may be shifting away from the Executive Director position, he will remain a close colleague, advisor, and friend of OEGlobal for many years to come.
You can read Paul’s personal reflection on his time at the helm of OEGlobal and what’s next for him on here.
Over the next several months, the Board will be conducting a global leadership search. We have engaged the executive search firm Mission Talent to ensure that the search process is fair, equitable, and aligned with our shared values.
The OEG Board of Directors is committed to a transition that prioritizes communication, transparency, and care for our staff, our community, and our members.
We are excited to share the job posting with you and hope that you will spread the news wide to identify candidates to lead OEG into our next chapter.
