For over 10 years, Open Education Global (OE Global) has been supporting the global development and use of open education. Based on its origins and relationship with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) OpenCourseWare initiative, OE Global’s historical focus and membership base has been higher education. As a result, OE Global has successfully built a membership network made up of hundreds of organizations supporting open education in higher education from countries all around the world.
In recent years, open education has successfully expanded into the primary and secondary (K-12) sector bringing the unique innovation and benefits associated with open education to all teachers and students. In response, OE Global recently expanded its membership categories to include primary and secondary and is developing new strategies and activities targeted to that sector.
In support of these efforts, OE Global is delighted to announce that in June 2020, Kristina Ishmael will be joining our team as Director of Primary and Secondary Sectors. In partnership with others, Kristina will lead the development of a strategy and a comprehensive effort to build global networks, infrastructure, and practices to support OER adoption and use at the primary and secondary level around the world.
Paul Stacey, Executive Director of OE Global says, “We’re thrilled to have Kristina joining our team. She’s an established leader in the field with a wonderfully dynamic and interpersonal way of working that ensures open education is situated around humanistic and social justice values. We are grateful to New America and the Hewlett Foundation for supporting Kristina’s transition to OE Global.”
Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Kristina Ishmael to OE Global.
